Leather Care

Caring for your bag is a quiet ritual that helps preserve its natural beauty and strength. Each leather has its own character and requires thoughtful attention. Here are our care notes to guide you in keeping your piece graceful and enduring through time.

Cowhide Leather Maintenance

  • Avoid scratches: Place your bag on smooth surfaces and handle it with care to preserve the natural grain of the leather.
  • Shape recovery: If your bag or strap changes shape during shipping, simply attach the strap and hang the bag overnight — it will gently return to its form.
  • Keep it dry: Leather is sensitive to moisture. Store your bag in a cool, dry space, away from direct sunlight, heat, or humidity. Never use hairdryers or heat sources to “fix” damp leather, as it may cause cracking.
  • Protect from stains: Prevent contact with greasy substances, cosmetics, perfume, or alcohol-based products. Printed magazines and new denim may also transfer color onto lighter leather surfaces.
  • If it gets wet: Gently blot with a soft, light-colored cloth. Never rub, as it can push water deeper into the fibers. Let the bag air dry naturally.
  • Regular nourishment: Over time, cowhide may benefit from a neutral, high-quality leather balm or conditioner. Apply sparingly with a soft cloth to keep the surface supple and prevent dryness or cracking.
  • Cleaning dirt: Use a clean, slightly damp cloth for surface dust. For deeper dirt in the grain, use a very soft brush in circular motions. Avoid harsh cleaners or solvents.

Suede Leather Maintenance

  • Natural character: It is in the nature of genuine suede that some color transfer may occur, especially when the bag is new. To avoid noticeable transfer, we recommend pairing it with darker or similar-toned clothing, and avoiding light-colored fabrics (especially cotton) during the first wears. Over time, the suede will soften, settle beautifully, and color transfer will gradually diminish.
  • Protect from water: Suede is sensitive to moisture. Avoid rain or damp environments. If it becomes wet, blot gently with a clean, light-colored cloth — never rub — and allow it to air dry naturally.
  • Keep it clean: Use a suede brush with soft bristles to lightly lift dust or surface dirt. Brush gently in one direction to restore the nap without damaging the fibers.
  • Avoid stains: Keep away from greasy substances, cosmetics, perfume, alcohol-based products, and printed materials that may transfer ink.
  • Shape recovery: If your bag or strap changes shape during shipping or storage, attach the strap and hang the bag overnight to restore its silhouette.
